Dr. Khairunnisa Shaikh grew up in the colorful city of Lahore, Pakistan, where her blended inclination for science and art led her to dentistry. With the background of her family composed of educators, lawyers, and doctors, she chose dentistry as a field that lets her simultaneously indulge in her infatuation with making smiles and improving lives. While in Pakistan, the doctor began her community service by serving in areas where dental care was scarce, a passion she continues by participating in community dentistry projects in Chicago.
Dr. Shaikh is attending multiple advanced courses to make sure she stays current in dentistry, owing to the attuned, extended training she has in Oral Surgery, Invisalign, and Full-Mouth Rehabilitation. Often, some of her treatments draw on her interests in alternative medicine or state-of-the-art dental technology, giving her the ability to use inventive approaches in her practice.
Dr. Shaikh is among a handful of dentists in the United States who have received training in 3D-cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and its use with CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics). By combining these technologies, she creates 3D models of adults and children in her office to virtually fine-tune the treatment plan before applying them to the patient, ensuring high precision and efficacy for treatment results.
She started Kedzie Dental Clinic with a philosophy of minimally invasive dentistry using the newest technology combined with nature to promote a healing and relaxing environment. What sets Dr. Shaikh apart the most is her caring and individualized approach so that every patient receives top-class treatment while being treated in a friendly and comfortable environment.
Dr. Shaikh loves spending time with family, cooking, traveling, and spiritual retreats outside her practice.
Specialist in Periodontology and Implantology
Dentist and periodontist Dr. Salvador Nares brings extraordinary skills in performing surgery on gums, bone grafting, and placement of implants to Kedzie Dental Clinic. As a true expert in periodontology, Dr. Nares always makes sure that the patients are offered the latest in periodontal care regarding their gum health and restorative dental needs. Dr. Nares received a degree in general dentistry (commonly called DDS), a PhD, and the certificate of specialty in periodontology from Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M University, in Dallas. He broadened his knowledge with a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Oral Infection and Immunity Branch of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR/NIH), Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Nares is an accomplished academic who has published numerous articles, book chapters, and abstracts. He is also a diplomat with the American Board of Periodontology and a member of the American Dental Association, International Association for Dental Research, and American Association for Dental Research. He reviews several scientific and clinical journals as his contribution to the field, thereby continuing to promote the advancement of knowledge in periodontics and dental research.
Dr. Nares has been happily married for 27 years to his wife, Celia. Together, they are the proud parents of three lively teenage daughters. The family enjoys exploring the diverse culinary offerings of Chicago, going to movies, and traveling to create new experiences.
Both Dr. Shaikh and Dr. Nares are committed to providing patients with excellent dental care, merging their expertise with compassion to make every patient feel special and cared for.
